Audrey {16 Months}

I know I start out most of these posts with "I cannot believe another month has passed so quickly", but alas, it has.  This past month has been a busy one and it seems Audrey has been learning something new every day.  We have been working on body parts with her more {okay, Doug has}.  She can successfully point to her:

• eyes
• mouth
• nose
• ears
• elbows
• knees
• feet
• fingers {she wiggles them!}
• hands

Among body part learnin' she has mastered the following words and actions:

• knucks {adorable to hear and see}
• pretty
• hello "lo"/hi
• snack
• bug
• yes
• please {along with the sign for it}
• done
• "hey, hey!" when the dogs start barking {I may have taught her that inadvertently...oops}
• jumping/hopping {she really gets air too!}

She follows commands and is showing even more understanding when we ask her a question:

Question: "Will you please sit down?"
Answer: She sits

Question: "Do you want to take a bath?"
Answer: Walks into the bathroom and tries to get undressed/take her diaper off

Question: "Should we change your diapey?"
Answer: She lays down and grabs at her pants/diaper

Question: "Is it good?" {referring to food}
Answer: "Mmmmmm"

Veggietales: She loves to watch this series.  This seemed to happen overnight.  We have put DVDs on from time to time to see if she has any interest {kid appropriate and not very often} and it wasn't until this past month that she really focused on it.  I think Doug discovered it when she was sick and Audrey just wanted to sit on his lap and cuddle.  It is really cute.  She especially loves the intro song, she dances and sways along while it plays.

Music: We got her a Veggietales CD for Easter as well and she loves listening to it.  She even sings along with her favorite song..."la la la la la".  :-)  And of course any time music is on she is dancing her little tush off.

Books: We have missed the past few story-times at the library due to sickness.  But, she is definitely showing favoritism toward certain books.  She'll want to read them again, again, and again.  It may have more to do with the way Doug reads to her {he does goofy voices or will sing the words to her}, but it's sweet nonetheless.

Babies{!!}:  Audrey has two baby dolls that she is especially taken with and she is so nurturing.  It's really quite amazing to see how the maternal instinct starts at such a young age.  She sleeps with the cloth baby {"babee"} and has to make sure that she's holding her before drifting off to sleep.  Precious.
