Doug originally planned to take May 25th through June 1st off from work, but when some things came up he changed his plans to only take May 25th - 29th. When he went into work on the 30th training had been delayed to the following week so he revised his plans again too. He took a half day and then the rest of the week off {as was his original plan}. I also took the full week off and did not work my usual Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday shifts. I was going to go down to see my sister and her family, but that fell through and then Doug ended up getting the rest of the week off! What a sweet surprise. We didn't plan a whole lot since plans had changed so often, but we managed to hit Como Zoo, take some really nice walks {including going around Lake Como} and a trip to French Regional Park with picnic lunch in tow.
We are lucky to have a ton of parks within walking distance {4 just off the top of my head!}. Doug's sister, Angela, was in town for a few days around Memorial Day so we enjoyed time with Doug's side of the family. Angela hadn't seen Audrey since Christmas; boy was she in for a treat! Audrey has just blossomed these past several months. It's hard to admit that she will be a year and a half in just a couple of weeks. Yikes!
I am looking forward to many more outings like these this summer. And, hopefully, before the summer is through we'll take a couple of short trips or perhaps another staycation like last year. So much to see and do in our great state!
