Staycation

Doug took 6 days off of work (last week and the Friday before that).  He hadn't had that much time off since Audrey's birth (just a reminder, that was 7 months ago).  Although we didn't call it a staycation officially, that's essentially what it was.  It was a hot, hot, hot week (too bad for us!), but we still managed a few fun things outside of hanging out at home in the comfort of our A/C.

On Tuesday we took a trip to our local library to pick up a book I had on hold (The Help) and browse around.  We stumbled upon 2 free admissions to the MN Zoo (hello savings of $36!).  To see some of the other places they offer free passes to click here.  Did you know the library offered this?  Well, now you do.  :)

Audrey "reading" at home.

She loves being able to grab the toys herself.

Just like every week, Audrey went with me to the YMCA on Tuesday and Thursday.  While I workout she gets to play with other kiddos (I feel this is a nice trade off for being home with me all day and not going to daycare - she gets exposure to other children plus lots of momma time).

On Wednesday we took Audrey to the beach [at Lake Josephine] for the first time - it was another great time had by all.  Since we live in the land of 10,000 lakes (and I practically grew up in the MN lakes) we thought it only appropriate we start 'er young.  She loved it!

 Water baby!

 Swimming with the momma.

Are they making the same face?

 Family photo-op :)

We spent Friday afternoon roaming around the MN Zoo and taking in the sights.  We didn't nearly cover everything, but we had a great time!  Audrey even passed out from all of the excitement.

 The entrance sign (duh).

Coral reef - kids can actually reach in and touch!

 Newest attraction - penguins!

We saw about 4 different types of tortoises.

 Miniature crocodiles - seriously!

Watching the fish.  :)

 MN Lynx

 How cute are they!?

Leopard - must have been nap time!

Audrey and momma outside the leopard's "house".

We always need the family photo-op.

Audrey fell asleep right as we were leaving.  :)

 Busy day!

Let me know what you think of "The Help." I read it a few weeks ago and really liked it.
